Replacement & Maintenance Guide

Helpful replacement and maintenance guidance for Exhaust System Kit.

SystemExhaust
Description / What It DoesAn exhaust system kit may include pipes, mufflers, resonators, clamps, hangers, and gaskets that route exhaust safely away from the vehicle and reduce noise. Leaks can cause noise, fumes, poor emissions results, and rust issues.
Replace / Inspect GuidanceInspect yearly and before winter; replace sections when rusted through, leaking, loose, or noisy. In salt-belt areas, exhaust parts may need replacement every 5–7 years.
Job DifficultyModerate DIY to Pro
Maintenance TipsWash salt from the underside when possible, replace broken hangers quickly, and fix leaks before they damage nearby parts.

When I first put this on my jeep it had a deep growl, and loud semi-aggressive tone especially on a cold start. I got several compliments and best of all I felt the difference when accelerating and saw the slight difference in gas mileage. Its been 3 weeks and that deep growl has toned down dramatically. Im still getting the quick reaction/power when I accelerate and better gas mileage, but sadly its not as loud nor does it have the deep muscle car sound unless I'm pushing 3800+ rpm. Still happy with it, but wish the sound persisted.

I loved the exhaust. It was bent properly to clear all the Jeep components. The muffler tucked well up inside the area designed for it. It sounds great. My ONLY complaint is that the didnt tighten up adequatly to keep the piping from slipping. I used the clamps off my old exhaust instead

The pipe works as advertised and prevents the stock drive shaft from interfering with the exhaust at full droop on my 2014 3.6L auto JK with a 2.5" AEV lift. Before installing this product the rubber boot on the driveshaft would rest on the exhaust when both front tires were in the air.

Exhaust system was what I expected. Shipping took almost 2 weeks. Not issue with exhaust itself.

Had to cut off 12 inches or so to fit but other than that it's perfect

Best way to eliminate loop with 4" lift on Wrangler 3.6. Puts crossover behind cross member to eliminate driveshaft joint rubbing on cross pipe.

Exhaust was awesome. Only big big complaint would be that it's all beat up around where u slide the pipe together. Spent alot of time re binding the pipes to make it all fit together.

High quality product and much lighter and more simple design than OEM, but one aggravating problem - needs another hanger on engine side of muffler because clamp at that spot will not hold and every few weeks the exhaust rotates about 25-30 degrees and the tailpipe turndown turns 30 degrees sidewYs as does the muffler and then the exhaust becomes loud. Have to loosen clamp and rotate and re-tighten the clamp. Of course you have to sit around and wait for the exhaust to cool off to do this. Either the clamp is too big and doesn't hold tight enough or better yet adding one more exhaust hanger between the muffler and that front clam would've been a better idea. Now I have to add the exhaust hanger.

I have a 2008 F250 6.4 this is a great product for the price eliminated the DPF filter i clearly have more horsepower all ready had the edge evolution tuner that will clear fault codes when you pull the DPF filter off get much better fuel mileage was getting 17 on highway now driving 65-70 getting 20-22 Easley. If any purchase this product you will need a tunewto clear fault codes after you pull of the DPF filter just don't pull off the DPF filter and install this pipe without a tuner you will have problems truck will run badly have a tuner first.

Was tough but I made it with help. Don't do this by yourself very dangerous. It was fun and a good learning experience. Sounds awesome and runs smoother.

This exhaust, together with air intake has produced a terrific result on my 14 Jeep Wrangler. Up to 14hp gains and I noticed on the same work route now I get 18.5mpg from 16 I used to get before. And the sound is the best. Very noticeable. I recommend it!

I just installed this in my 2008 Duramax cc/sb, and it looks awesome. 5" is extremely tight but I knew that it would be before purchasing this. I had to change my spare tire to a 245/75/16, instead of 265, and that gave me more clearance for the tail pipe section. If the box didn't come all beat up, and pipe sections distorted at the ends, I'd happily rate this a 5 star. Planning on getting a 7x36" stack to go on, to give it a little more bark. If I did it again, I'd go 4" back to dpf section (mine is deleted), then 5" on back, just for the plain fact that 5" is hard to maneuver around on the front end. Regardless, pipe is pipe at the end of day on a diesel.

I purchased this unit for me 05 Tacoma double cab. Installation was straight forward. The only unexpected item was the need to trim a pipe. This kit is universal to double cabs with long and short beds so people with short beds needs to trim 12" off the main pipe. Not a big deal but be prepared.The. Exhaust passes the seat of the pants dyno test. I can't attest to mor hp but the throttle response is definitely improved.

Work as described, took a bit to get installed. Not a fan of the heat tape provided, they just should wrap the exhaust instead.

The product information has not yet been updated to reflect the fact that, yes it fits a 2014. The box says it does fit a 2014, however, the install instructions still say 2012 - 2013 and so does AutoPartsWAY.Beware that the 49-46215 part number (this item) is ONLY for the 4 door, AUTOMATIC. If you have a manual transmission you need the 49-46230 (double check, to be sure). I don't know what the 2 door part numbers are, sorry.Install was easy enough for a DIY job. If you can read and follow a recipe to bake a cake, you can install this solo (provided you own or borrow the tools). There is no loop delete (a good thing) and power and sound remain the same as stock. This Y-Pipe does provide more driveline clearance then the exhaust spacers do.

This is a great exhaust! I was worried about heat & noise with the relocation, but I notice little difference between it and the stock (although this one sounds much better). I also do not have carpet in my Jeep, which made me more worried about these things. I took it to a family-owned and operated muffler shop that has been in our town 'forever', and the installer said that it is the best he has ever seen (construction, hangars, etc). He referenced some other big company names which I also considered purchasing as a comparison to this exhaust. I'll be purchasing more aFe!

Easy install! Beautiful piece of metal strapped to the bottom of my FJ that no one gets to admire but me. This exhaust is quiet at idle but when throttle is applied it barks a nice midrange tone. I do have a couple of gripes though; the exhaust shown pictured is not what you get and I purchased this without double checking the part number on AFE's site. The 2.5 high tuck is no where near as pretty as what is pictured. That bummed me out but what really got me upset was the fact that I purchased this on looks, got a product that didn't match the picture and then found out AFE makes a 3" high tuck! So the exhaust that I ended up with isn't what was pictured and only produces half the horsepower that the 3" does.Don't get me wrong, now that I have the high tuck installed I do love it but I would have loved the 3" more and they are within a few dollars of each other on AutoPartsWAY.This was my mistake due to a visual misrepresentation by the seller's picture.

Was a fairly easy install, 1st time putting exhaust in and little to no issues. I also had the AFE stage 2 intake, so whether or not that made a slightly different sound for the exhaust, not sure, but i can say it sounds great! For a v6, I couldnt be happier, hell it almost sounds like a diesel!

Installed on a '13 F-150 Crew cab with the 6.5' bed. I really like the exhaust, it lets through a little bit of turbo whine, and sounds pretty good doing it. It's actually a little quieter than I expected, especially at idle, but I'm OK with that. The tt3.5L definitely sounds different than a v8, and that took a bit to get used to.It installed fairly simple, basic exhaust... One thing I did different than the instructions said, was the mid-pipe cut for the 157" wheelbase. Instructions said to cut 6" off. I only cut 3.5" off and am very happy with the fit there...Also, not sure what happened during shipping but both the flange bolts were floating around the box freely and the nuts were gone... Not a big deal, but had to make a Lowe's run mid project.

I recently installed this product on a 2012 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD Regular Cab. It fit great, and was easy to cut to length. The bends in the pipe were all nice and smooth. The pickup sounds nice with a little lope, while not being overly loud.Great setup for doing a DPF delete on the cheap. I bought the from Rudy' Diesel Performance on AutoPartsWAY as well. No more emission trouble codes and reliability has gone up 100%!

System came with all required components to do the job. The only item that may have been nice to have included was the V-band clamp that connects the system to the turbo. Mine was in fair shape so it was reused.Installation was pretty easy with normal shop tools.System is quite a bit louder than the stock exhaust. If it was any louder I personally would consider going with something else. Going down the highway with no trailer it is reasonably quiet but gets louder under a load and my concern is that it will be pretty noisy if you are hauling a medium to heavy trailer.

Works great i felt an increase in power right away. Has a good sound that is quiet when your not really pushing the peddle but if you floor it, it can get loud. The only thing i don't like is that on the exhaust tip the black paint stated pealing after a week.
