Ordered for a 1999 Chevy Suburban K1500 with the 5.7L Vortec. Installation took well under 30 minutes and only needed a 15mm wrench and a screwdriver for some prying.Previously, I had replaced all the front end suspension components and even replaced the steering box because my burb liked to wander, especially on the highway. All those repairs (and an alignment) took care of a lot of the problems. But the steering would still get funny when I was going 45mph or faster and starting to turn. The steering would get real easy for a half-sec and then go back to normal. It did this everytime. This part 100% eliminated the problem. Driving is much easier now and I feel a lot better letting my wife drive the car. It never felt unsafe, you just had to expect the little steering hiccup. But now the steering is back to normal!

If you are driving an older model Chevy after 1996 or so and when you turn the wheel above about 45 mph, you suddenly have the steering get very easy for a split second, this is the culprit. It fits around the steering column under the dash. There are YouTube videos showing you how to replace it. Very simply, you lay on your back in the most uncomfortable position possible and stare up and the steering column in the area where the shaft from the engine compartment is bolted to the steering column. Make sure your steering wheel is locked and unbolt the two parts. Push the engine side of the column towards the firewall several inches. It slides VERY HARD so it might be easier to go in the engine compartment and pull it forward as I had to do.Back under the dash, you will see this part secured in a plastic retainer. GENTLY pull back the clips that hold it in place and remove the part. Unplug it and plug in the new one. Snap it back into the retainer. There doesn't appear...
